Some of our Friends

Helping refugees with their immediate daily needs for life, from somewhere to sleep to education and everything in between. This is what drives forRefugees – a passion for positively impacting the lives of refugees.

We uniquely provide small-scale grants and basic charity services to local partners on the ground across Europe. This is because we know that it’s lots of grassroots efforts and voluntary helping hands that are improving the lives of real people, every day, right now.

Mobile Refugee Support was established in June 2017 following the destruction of the Calais Jungle and La Linière camp in Grande-Synthe. Since then we have offered mobile aid and support to displaced people living in and around northern France.

MRS provides a variety of services, including access to basic essentials and equipment in order to enable more bearable living conditions. Additionally, we provide communication support, including daily services of access to power and WiFi for up to 500 people at a time.

Refugee Community Kitchen serves hot, nourishing meals to displaced people in the UK and France.

“We are volunteers. We chop. We stir. We serve. We believe food is a human right. Everyone deserves food that we’d be happy to eat at our own tables.”

Since 2015 we have served nutritious food without judgement to those fleeing war, poverty, persecution and climate change and living in Northern France and the UK.

Roots is a French association working in Grande Synthe, an area of northern France close to Dunkirk, providing services to people living in the informal camps here. We aim to provide environmentally conscious and sustainable humanitarian aid, particularly focussing on the environment surrounding the living site. We believe in access to basic human rights for everybody, no matter where you are from or what your visa situation is, and we will continue to do this until these fundamental human rights are met.

No Name Kitchen was born in Belgrade by winter 2017 when a group of volunteers started cooking in Belgrade alongside the thousands of people who were fending for themselves after the closure of the Hungarian frontier. Since then, NNK supports those who suffer the lack of safe and legal pathways, collecting testimonies and denouncing the systematic use of institutional violence at the borders.

Our actions include medical care, distributions of food and clothes, legal support and the denunciation of abuses at the borders, where thousands of human beings keep suffering violence, fatigue and sickness during their migratory procceses.

Since 2016, the Woodyard has purchased, received, cut, split and distributed wood to all camps on the northern France-United Kingdom border. It participates in the emergency humanitarian response aimed at covering the basic and primary needs of people in exile during the cold season. Faced with extremely difficult living conditions, we distributed up to 10 tonnes of wood per week for a total of nearly 300 tonnes during last winter.

In winter, wood is a question of survival for more than 1,000 people living in the slums and other informal neighborhoods of Calais and Grande Synthe (Dunkirk). The wood distributed is used constantly during the winter to keep warm, cook food distributed by our partner the Calais Food Collective, dry clothes, make coffee, etc.

A grassroots collective, advocating for food + water autonomy for displaced people in northern France

Odd socks ceramics

I am excited every time I get my hands in clay. Whether you choose a piece with an inspiring quote, a lefty slogan, an evocative Welsh phrase or an old-fashioned pharmacy label, I hope some of that joy comes to you when you hold the ceramics in your hands.

Topple and Burn is as much a campaign of rage as it is a jewellery brand. We started out as a charity fundraiser, and raising money for the things that matter is still a huge part of what we stand for. We are passionate activists who believe in every cause we shout about. If that’s on social media, our campaigns or with our jewellery.

The only UK registered charity dedicated to reducing and diverting waste from festivals and events through engagement, motivation and kindness.

We have been running since 2016 and we have got pretty good at salvaging usable items and diverting usable resources through collaborative reclamation operations. However, this does not tackle the actual issue of campsite destruction, tent abandonment and the underpinning lack of care and respect that causes it.

A climate-friendly crew of environmental fanatics offering self-sustaining and sustainable walkabout groups targeting campsites on waste management + tent desertion.
